Some connectivity issues can be caused by damaged or incorrect settings. The instructions below will walk you through resetting your internet options.
What This Does
This will reset all browser security and network configurations to their factory defaults. This includes clearing your temporary files, disabling browser add-ons, and resetting any custom proxy or privacy settings you’ve previously configured. This does not delete any saved bookmarks.
Browser History: The list of websites you've visited.
Homepages: If you set your browser to open a specific site on startup, it will revert to the default (usually MSN or Google).
Search Providers: Any custom search engines you added.
Cookies & Passwords: You will likely be signed out of most websites.
Windows 10
- Open Settings.
- In the search bar at the top right, type 'internet options'.
- From the 'Internet Properties' menu, click on the 'Advanced' tab.
- Look for the section labeled "Reset Internet Explorer settings" (don't worry, these settings apply to the whole OS, not just the old browser) and click the Reset... button.
Windows 11
Open Settings.
Go to Network & Internet on the left.
Click on Advanced network settings at the bottom.
Under 'More settings', click Network reset.
Click Reset now and confirm with Yes.
⚠️ Warning: This will restart your PC and forget your Wi-Fi passwords.
